Soccer Travel Tryouts

Joining a travel team requires a lot of commitment and dedication from players and parents. Commitment is expected from the moment a player tryout for a team. Travel soccer's level of play is advanced and competitive compared to recreational soccer.

We have outlined the tryout process for travel players.

All players must register to attend tryouts.

All players must register before the tryout, given that HHSA will communicate via email with players and parents.

An HHSA coach or director will contact you with training session dates, locations, and options for players to follow. Once agreed on a training session, players should arrive 10-15 minutes early and check in with the coach.

Once you receive your tryout session time and location, all players should arrive 10-15 minutes before the start of the tryout. Players will check in with the appropriate coach as indicated within the registration email.

Players must attend one or two tryout sessions.

We encourage players to attend two tryouts. In addition, coaches recommend that players participate in multiple tryouts to allow players to feel comfortable with the team and the different styles of coaching.

Players may try out with different level teams depending on player skill level to help guide coaches' decisions on the right level of play for the player.

Showing up to tryouts shows players' and parents' commitment to the team.

Players must wear proper soccer attire.

Every player should dress in proper soccer attire, including shin guards, suitable shoes, a ball, water, and any personal medical supplies you may need. In addition, players should not wear jewelry, watches, wristbands, or anything not permitted in a soccer game.

Player tryout evaluation.

Coaches will evaluate the player's abilities and performance during the training session. Once assessed, the coach will inform the HHSA director regarding the player's outcome.

Tryout results and making the team

Not all players can make a travel team. However, coaches will recommend a pathway for player development, which can be to join one or multiple HHSA soccer programs.

HHSA director or coach will notify players and parents of a decision for the upcoming soccer season schedule. Players get notified whether they have made the team or not. Please get in touch with us if you do not hear from the club within a week of the tryout.

What players can expect once accepted to a travel team

Coaches are to assign the player to a roster for the upcoming season. Parents must register the player for the forthcoming season to guarantee a spot on the team and ensure players attend pre-season training and scrimmages as per demand from the coach. Players must fully commit to the sport with passion, dedication, and excitement.
